Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room. Join us as we examine the readings over coffee for the upcoming Sunday from a commentator’s point of view and relating them to our own life and times.
Rector’s Forum (after 10:00 a.m. service)
Each Sunday from September to May members of the parish join the Rector for a discussion on various topics of Christian faith, morals and ethics and topics that help us to increase our knowledge of the our Church, religion and faith. The Junior and Senior High School students are invited to attend. We meet in the undercroft directly from after the 10:00 AM service until about Noon.
This discussion is held over coffee and doughnuts.
Wednesdays in Lent
Each Wednesday during the Season of Lent we hold a Service of Holy Communion in the Chapel at 5:00 PM, we then have a simple supper at 6:00 PM followed by a short program and discussion at 6:45 PM. Our evening concludes by 7:30 PM.
The Season of Advent
On Mondays during Advent we have Service of Holy Communion. The sermon takes various Advent themes. In the past we have used Art as a focal point. The service begins at 5:30 p.m. and is held in the Chapel.
Meets every other week at 7:00 PM for about an hour. Please check the calendar for meetings dates.
Lectio Divina is a slow, contemplative praying of the Scriptures. There are three various translations of a Scripture reading each followed by a reflective question. It is more reflective and spiritual as opposed to our Thursday Bible Study, which is more educational in nature. We discover our own longings and deepest insights as we further our relationship with God.
We bring our hopes, concerns and prayers as we reflect on the events of our lives. We try to formulate our baptismal call by moving forward in our spiritual journeys.
Education for Ministry
“Will you promise to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?” This is a promise we have made as baptized Christians but sometimes it is hard to know just what our call to serve is.
Education for Ministry is a program that assists individuals in discerning that call. EfM as it is called looks at the Old Testament, New Testament, Church History and Theology over a four year period. It is based on a one room school house model and as everyone prepares for their lesson there is a common area of connection in the second half of the class time.
EfM is a four year program (sign up for one year at a time) which meets weekly. If you have any questions or are interested please contact the Parish Office at 607-748-8118. What a great way to expand your horizons and deepen your faith, have fun and have the support of others in the group. Scholarship help is available.
Also, you may find details directly on EfM’s website.
